New York Department of Transportation’s State Route 17 Interchange 105 Reconstruction and State Route 42 Improvement Project

The New York Department of Transportation reconstructed Exit 105 in the Town of Thompson, NY, to fix many mobility issues faced by the town’s 20,000 residents. The $31 million project added sidewalks on either side of the State Route 17 roadway leading to the exit, with crosswalks equipped with high visibility signage and more lighting allowing for safer passage to shopping districts on either side of the highway. Motorists benefitted, with two replacing the original clover-leaf signal interchange on either side of the highway, leading to fewer conflict points and allowing traffic to flow freely into both the Village of Monticello and the Town of Thompson.
