Arkansas Department of Transportation’s 30 Crossing

The I-30 Crossing addressed critical issues on I-30 in the cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock by enhancing safety, reducing congestion, improving mobility, and modernizing infrastructure along this vital corridor, which serves 120,000 vehicles per day. As the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s first design-build project, the I-30 Crossing Project reconfigured interchanges to improve traffic flow and replaced the Arkansas River Bridge to address structural deficiencies and enhance navigational safety. The result is a more reliable transportation corridor that supports long-term safety, mobility, and connectivity for residents, commuters, and businesses across the region. The $633 million project’s goals included improved local access to both downtown areas, enhanced east-west connectivity, including bicycle, pedestrian, and transit accommodations, and optimized opportunities for economic development. The project also created some 17 acres of green space from the removal of elevated ramps and connectors; providing unobstructed views of downtown Little Rock and the Clinton Presidential Library, located on opposite sides of I-30.
