Arkansas Department of Transportation’s Slow Down, Phone Down Work Zone Safety Campaign

From 2018-2021, work zone crashes increased by more than 70 percent in Arkansas. ARDOT saw that alarming rise in crashes, injuries, and fatalities and took action. ARDOT’s Public Information Office established the work zone safety public awareness campaign – Slow Down, Phone Down – which launched in February 2022. This $500,000 project focuses on bolstering awareness of work zone safety and increasing law enforcement presence in work zones. With a focus on safety and quality of life, the Slow Down, Phone Down campaign promotes safer driving habits, ultimately helping save lives across the roadway system—especially in work zones.
