Ohio Department of Transportation’s State Route 46 / 82 Diverging Diamond Interchange or DDI project set out to improve safety, reduce congestion, and upgrade structural issues at the State Route 46 and SR 82 interchange.
Additionally, the $19 million project upgraded the existing SR 82 bridge, increasing its substandard 15-foot vertical clearance to meet current safety standards. By reducing congestion at one of the area’s busiest interchanges, the project significantly improves safety for the more than 50,000 vehicles that use the corridor each day.
The agency said the project is expected to benefit both the local community and the broader regional economy. The redesigned interchange allows residents and visitors to travel more efficiently and safely, improving access to major destinations such as the Eastwood Mall Shopping Complex, which includes a professional baseball stadium, hotels, an indoor event center, and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
