Missouri Department of Transportation Reeds Spring Roundabout project built a roundabout at U.S. Route 160, Missouri Route 13, Missouri Route 248, and Dogwood Tree Road in Reeds Spring to address a high‑crash intersection that suffered 29 crashes in five years.
Heavy traffic and complex turning movements created ongoing safety concerns for local drivers, school traffic, and tourists. This $2.5 million project delivered a safer, slower‑speed, more predictable intersection to significantly limit the likelihood of crashes and improve daily travel for the community.
By replacing the two-way stop with a modern single lane roundabout, MoDOT reduced conflict points and eliminated high-speed, right-angle crashes. The completed project now provides safer, smoother travel for residents, school traffic, emergency responders, and tourists – creating a more predictable, lower speed intersection that has noticeably improved daily driving in the community.
By solving long‑standing safety and congestion issues at a critical junction, the project provides a safer, more reliable connection that enhances daily life for the entire Stone County community.
