Georgia Department of Transportation’s Historic Rogers Bridge Pedestrian/Bike Crossing

Constructed in the early 1900s, Rogers Bridge once crossed the Chattahoochee River between Duluth and Johns Creek, GA, but closed in the 1970s due to structural deterioration. A $5.9 million Georgia Department of Transportation project has built a replica of the historic bridge for bicycle and pedestrian access – linking Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth and Cauley Creek Park in Johns Creek. Rogers Bridge Park features picnic pavilions, a canoe launch, and the ‘Chattapoochee’ Dog Park, while Cauley Creek Park offers courts, fields, and just over 3-mile-long rubber-surfaced walking trail. The new bridge has improved access to both parks, enhancing recreational opportunities for residents. Artwork from the original bridge decorates the new structure’s entrances, serving as anchors at the pathways. Visitors frequently traverse Rogers Bridge on foot or bike, enjoying the easy access to both parks.
