Spearheaded by the Idaho Transportation Department, the simultaneous completion of two diverging diamond interchanges on US-20 – Exits 332 (University Boulevard) and 333 (State Highway 33) – has significantly enhanced safety and mobility in the growing college town of Rexburg, ID, home to Brigham Young University-Idaho. These interchanges now serve a combined 21,510 vehicles daily, a number expected to rise with continued population growth and student enrollment. The $23.4 million investment transformed a high-risk corridor into a safer, more efficient route, particularly during the city’s frequent community events that draw additional traffic. The project showcases the power of responsive transportation planning, shaped by community input and stakeholder collaboration, to foster regional economic development and improve quality of life. ITD’s District 6 efforts exemplify a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure that serves both current and future needs.
