The Complete Streets Manual signifies a new standard for how Kentucky transportation official plan and develop streets, roads and highways. Instead of focusing solely on cars, the new manual equips planners, designers, and engineers with the tools needed to craft a safe, multimodal transportation system for all users. The design of complete streets also provides opportunities and gathering places for art, commerce, and community events. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet headed up the development of this complete streets manual; a project that cost $250,000. In conjunction with this manual, all future road projects in Kentucky will be planned, designed, operated, and maintained for safe, convenient travel – while also offering access for users of all ages and abilities, regardless of mode of transportation.
