More than 24,400 motorists currently use a 3.7 mile segment of LA 42 in Ascension Parish daily. To address the growing traffic from the area’s development and ensure a safer road, a $27.48 million project was undertaken by Louisiana DOTD to widen the roadway and ease congestion. This corridor added eight J-turns that safely and efficiently manage traffic along various intersections in this corridor. Sidewalks were also added, a new feature for this area that has already seen tremendous benefits for pedestrians and the economy. There are many new businesses and parks that are now walkable for the new neighborhoods in development.
