Ohio Department of Transportation’s Downtown Ramp Up I-70/71 Project 3B

This $40.9 million Ohio Department of Transportation project rebuilt the Broad Street bridge over I-71 in Columbus, enhancing connectivity to local neighborhoods. The new bridge – part of the larger “Downtown Ramp Up” project on I-70/I-71 – benefits underserved communities affected by the interstate’s construction, where many residents rely on public transit, biking, and walking to get around. The new bridge features wider and safer crosswalks, bike lanes, and overhead lighting – all helping improve safety, aesthetics, and quality of life for the community, as well as address the historical impact of the bridge’s original construction and promote economic growth.
