The I-15 Express Lanes Middle Segment Project expanded an eight-mile-long reversible HOV expressway using design sequencing. Less than nine months after the project was environmentally cleared, construction broke ground on the middle segment. Use of this technique allowed improvements to be designed and constructed in five and a half years.
