Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s PA 18 Signal Upgrades

This $15 million initiative aimed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion by replacing and re-timing traffic signals. The area was heavily congested prior to the project, with traffic sometimes queued onto the interstate, creating unsafe conditions. The PA 18 Signal Upgrades included sidewalk connections, Americans with Disabilities Act compliance upgrades, utility repairs, and transit accommodations such as a paved park-and-ride area, bus shelter, and pavement reconstruction. PA 18 – heavily used by locals, commercial services, and recreational visitors – will see improved access to amenities, enhancing travel efficiency for all users in the Washington, PA, area.
