The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s $70 million Broadway Bridge Replacement project replaced the 75-year-old Broadway Viaduct. Serving 26,000 daily vehicles on a busy state route into downtown Nashville, the new bridge keeps the same alignment and width with six 10-foot lanes but narrowed the center turn lane to expand sidewalks by two feet – adding planters to separate vehicles and pedestrians. The project finished on budget, two weeks early, reducing the impact on drivers for project that improves safety and accessibility.
