Utah Department of Transportation & Utah Transit Authority: Teamed-Up for Transit

The first joint project delivery effort between the Utah Department of Transportation and the Utah Transit Authority resulted in the new Frontrunner train station at Vineyard City – a critical linchpin for expanding an active transportation network in the region. As Vineyard City blossoms as one of the fastest growing areas in Utah, the station strengthened the community’s access to qualify-of-life opportunities with a multi-modal approach that is pedestrian, bike, and transit-friendly. This $21.5 million project provides a major hub for pedestrian and bicycle trail connections within Utah County and as far north as Salt Lake County. Those pathways offer health and lifestyle benefits to local residents and guests. Moreover, the low cost of travel provided by commuter rail also offers alternatives to automotive travel to area residents, especially for those who are disabled.
