Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Low Risk Program

In 2022, the Wisconsin DOT’s Low Risk Delivery Program invested over $3.7 million in eight local transportation projects. This program aids communities in prioritizing and executing crucial local initiatives, focusing on enhancing aging bridges and roads that are vital for agriculture, tourism, and business. Many of the bridges rebuilt through the program were at least 60 years old – with one more than 100 years old.  These local bridges serve as important connector routes, helping move people and commodities in and out of the state. This program allowed Wisconsin DOT to expedite projects that may have otherwise languished and use the financial savings to spread to other roadway and bridge projects throughout the state.
