The $19 million Cheyenne Streets project prioritized safety, employing a comprehensive strategy to ensure safe operations on US 30 now and in the future. Key improvements included a center median, a new traffic signal at Whitney Road, turning movement restrictions, intersection skew corrections, turn lanes, and speed reductions. These changes were part of a holistic plan to reduce high-risk movements, limit vehicle conflict points, and lower operating speeds, ensuring safety for both motorists and pedestrians. Additionally, the project’s enhanced roadway capacity has significantly improved the US 30 corridor’s service and operations. Collaboration between the contractor, Wyoming Department of Transportation, and other stakeholders contributed to a smooth and efficient construction process. The project was completed ahead of schedule, minimizing delays and impacts on travelers. Most of the funding came from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, covering both design and construction costs – federal support WYDOT said provide crucial to the project’s success.
