Ontonagon River Bridge Project Ontonagon, MI |
The Ontonagon Bridge relocation was a 15 year effort that culminated with a new 1,700 ft. bridge and new roadway, which opened to traffic on October 11, 2006. Use of innovative management techniques allowed the Michigan DOT to meet project challenges including a multi-use pathway, a tiered wetland mitigation site, an archeological dig, and relocation of the original swing bridge operator’s cabin to a nearby park.
