The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Interstate-694 North Central Project north of Minneapolis-St. Paul, which reduced congestion and increased reliability for transit utilizing the highway, was delivered more than $100 million under the original $143 million project estimate. MnDOT redesigned the project, reducing costs for traffic management, and construction and labor.
