Missouri DOT’s $26 million Osage River Rail Bridge Project eased congestion on a rail bridge for passenger and freight trains travelling between St. Louis and Jefferson City. The project was completed on time and $2.1 million under budget. MoDOT added a bridge and double track, allowing trains to operate without having to funnel on one single track across the river. The project improved on-time performance for Amtrak’s Missouri River Runner train, while also improving on-time performance for 60 Union Pacific freight trains that operate daily on the Kansas City to St. Louis corridor.
