Montana Department of Transportation’s $338,000 Flathead Transit project restored intercity bus service between Missoula and Whitefish, proving a vital link between businesses, medical facilities, and the regional airport. In 2014, Rimrock Stages ended service rural transit service after 40 years. That left residents lacking transportation options. Flathead Transit and MDT worked together to restore service and provide a vital link in Montana’s transportation system that enhances the quality of life for those living along the route, those doing business in the area, and tourists who visit the region.
