US 322 Bridge/Mullica Hill Pond Dam Over Raccoon Creek

Category: Quality of Life/Community Development, small.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation’s $8.1-million project at the US 322 Bridge/Mullica Hill Pond Dam improved road safety and environmental conditions in Harrison Township, better connecting the community with the pond for fishing and recreational activities. The project upgraded and replaced a dam and bridge that was damaged by Hurricane Irene, and that had passed its useful life, and posed a risk of breach and damage to nearby communities. By replacing a structurally deficient bridge and upgrading the dam to meet current safety regulations, the structures are now better equipped for inclement weather.
