North Dakota Department of Transportation’s $130.3 million Watford City bypass project reduced congestion related to the regional oil boom, and improved safety conditions for local traffic and pedestrians in the city. The bypass project directs truck and motorist traffic around the city rather than through downtown, which had experienced a 430% increase in traffic since 2008.
