New York State Department of Transportation – I-87 (Adirondack Northway) Exit 4 Bridge Replacements and Road/Ramp Improvements

New York State Department of Transportation’s $22.4 million project replaced two aging bridges in eight months instead of two years, even as it handled more than 110,000 vehicles daily without major traffic disruptions. Crews used innovative construction methods to avoid impacting the traveling public and began transitioning traffic from the old bridges onto the new ones during a 72-hour weekend operation while maintaining the flow of commerce, tourism and commuters between the Adirondacks and Quebec. Crews also widened the road under the bridge and added sidewalks for safer, convenient access to nearby businesses and destinations.
