Utah Department of Transportation’s $2.8 million project increased neighborhood safety, accessibility and maintained regional mobility along SR 186 to improve travel conditions for residents and State Capitol employees and visitors. Crews worked on all roads simultaneously to shorten the construction schedule and partnered with community members to preserve the historic aesthetic elements of the Capitol. They also added parking and safety features for people biking and walking such as new pavement, a signal at 500 North and Columbus Street, a crosswalk, landscaped medians, and a bike lane along 500 North and East Capitol Boulevard.
