CTDOT addressed two structurally deficient bridge spans on I-95 in Waterford with its $11 million Waterford Superstructure Slide Installation project. The $5 million project included the use of precast NEXT Beams, a cost-effective method for this project. Since the project was on busy I-95, ConnDOT used accelerated bridge construction to cut overall impact time. These techniques, used for the first time in the state on this project, saved time and headaches for drivers along I-95 in the area while delivering a new and safer bridge on which to travel.
