District Department of Transportation—Kenilworth Gardens Trail

The $23 million Kenilworth Gardens Trail is a multi-use path that completes the missing link between the Anacostia Tributary Trail System in Maryland and the entire Anacostia Riverwalk Trail network in the District of Columbia, creating bicycle and pedestrian connectivity and access that previously did not exist. The trail includes asphalt sections that meander around trees and wetlands in the Aquatic Gardens and other National Park Service lands; sidewalks through communities; and raised concrete boardwalks and bridges over the Anacostia River. The trail provides a viable bicycle travel option for nearly 20,000 daily commute trips and shortens bicycle travel time by as much as 30 minutes. The trail is expected to attract over 220,000 annual active recreational trips and support the local economy.Kenilworth Gardens Trail--District DOT
