NJDOT’s division of Traffic Operations actively leads the effort to improve responder safety and transportation network efficiency through daily application of Traffic Incident Management (TIM). The department developed a TIM training program to provide responders with the knowledge to manage and coordinate multi-agency activities to clear traffic incidents quickly (which saves lives). To actively monitor the progress of the TIM training activities, NJDOT created a web portal to function as a central clearinghouse for first responders across the state. It provides information such as general NJTIM documents, a list of all training participants, a schedule of past and future training sessions, contact information for NJTIM committee members, and a forum for sharing best practices. The $340,000 project saves time for first responders, which ultimately makes everyone on the road safer.
