The $187.5 million new Interstate 90 Dresbach Bridge by MnDOT is a key transportation conduit for communities and commerce on the Mississippi River, the state line between Minnesota and Wisconsin. The new crossing, which sees an average of 26,500 vehicles each day, replaced a fracture-critical bridge that was completed in 1967. Once I-90 was completed in 1977, it became even more important as a vital connection in the coast-to-coast highway. The previous bridge’s narrow shoulders were a safety concern that would force lane closures when vehicles crashed. The new crossing increases safety for drivers and can now better accommodate the growing number of daily vehicles in the area.
