This $7.6 million, two-year project by ODOT widened and reconstructed 1.05 miles of U.S. 27 between Stillwell-Beckett and Chestnut Street in the city of Oxford to significantly increase the quality and safety of the community and visitors that travel by car, bike, or vehicle through Oxford. Prior to construction, this section of U.S. 27 was a two-lane highway without turning lanes at most of its intersections and with excessive vertical curves that led to hazardous driving conditions in the winter. In addition, sidewalks were mostly nonexistent and roadway shoulders were less than two feet wide. The completed project delivered a safer roadway for the community, dedicated bike lanes for the large number of bicyclists (many from local Miami University and Talawanda High School), and a new traffic signal that improves traffic flow for all.
