The SR 826 /SR 836 Interchange is located in the heart of Miami-Dade County and serves more than 450,000 vehicles per day. It is a vital interchange link connecting two of the most traveled corridors in South Florida and linking Miami International Airport and Port Miami. The $559 million reconstruction of this interchange, known as the Palmetto Section 5 Project, was the final piece of a 10-project program for widening the SR 826 Palmetto Expressway. The new interchange relieves congestion for drivers, improves safety for this critical link, and has prepared the area for future growth, as the interchange is anticipated to reach 620,000 vehicles by 2035.
