California Department of Transportation—Managed Lanes Network Study

Caltrans’ $390,000 Managed Lanes Network Study evaluated the existing carpool network in Orange County to identify more sustainable transportation system management options. The study addresses federal managed lane degradation requirements while improving system reliability and safety, reducing congestion, and providing a more sustainable means to operate and maintain the existing network. The improved operations of the corridor will cut greenhouse gas emissions and allow for better air quality, while increasing safety for drivers by getting them out of packed lanes, and encouraging other transit options. For the study, Caltrans engaged with several partners and stakeholders to identify corridor-specific projects that will improve the lives of many in and around Orange County.California DOT's Managed Lanes Network Study
