MDT made it much easier for motor carriers to comply with state and federal regulations that improve safety and protect transportation infrastructure with the creation of the state’s electronic Permit, Audit, Registration, and Tax system (ePART). Processes that formerly took up to four hours can now be completed in minutes at any time of the day, saving time and resources for all involved. ePART allows carriers to process multiple transactions online such as analyzing vehicle configurations for size and weight permitting, adding vehicles to their fleet, entering International Fuel Tax Agreement tax returns, and making payments. Overall, ePART has improved highway safety, quality and access for data, convenience, and efficiency for both the department and motor carriers.
