Utah Department of Transportation—SR-20; Passing Lane Intelligent Design & Construction Project

The $3.85 million SR-20; Passing Lane Intelligent Design & Construction (IDC) project was the first project in UDOT’s overall IDC initiative, which will change the way work is done to save time and funding from design through construction. The end goal of IDC is to advertise all design-bid-build projects with UDOT’s 3D model as the legal instrument, eliminating paper plan sheet production that usually consumes 50-70 percent of time and cost in construction contract and construction plan preparation. The SR-20 project was the first in the nation to use the electronic files as the contractual instrument to be built almost entirely with Automated Machine Guidance technology.Utah DOT's SR-20; Passing Lane Intelligent Design & Construction Project
