Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Project Delivery Collaboration Center

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Project Delivery Collaboration Center (PDCC) serves as a one-stop shop for all project delivery activities—from design through construction to asset management—improving efficiency and bolstering collaboration and knowledge sharing. The initiative saves time by automating standardized workflows to track projects and manage user roles for system access and participation. The $7.45 million project strengthens interagency collaboration by sharing data and documents with internal and external stakeholders while consolidating standardized document and data storage integrated with PennDOT IT systems, including version control and archiving. PennDOT said it designed its PDCC to provide accurate and consistent data across multiple platforms and locations to form a unified framework for collaborative decision making. The PDCC front end was developed specifically for PennDOT to communicate data from existing PennDOT legacy and third-party systems; streamlining administrative solution needs and creating dashboards that represent the key information project managers and executives would like at their fingertips. The PDCC delivered greater functionality via one solution versus multiple siloed solutions, improving workflow reviews/management, file management, project coordination, schedule monitoring, cost management, photos, issues, and open Application Programming Interfaces or APIs to allow connection to existing systems. The system allows PennDOT project managers to access one location for key project information in lieu of multiple locations to gain the same insight. The PDCC also streamlines many processes including connectivity to the Commonwealth’s record retention solution for archiving and connectivity to the Contract Management solution; processes that previously took multiple steps and systems are now in one location.
