Located in Jonesboro, the Craighead Forest Park provides access to public lands for a city with approximately 75,000 residents. The park offers campsites, pavilions, and a variety of sports and recreational facilities such as basketball courts and playgrounds. To provide additional access within the park and offer another amenity for visitors, Arkansas DOT constructed a $1 million 2.9-mile multi-use trail, which surrounds Forest Park Lake. The trail provides direct access to the park’s popular campsites, playground, boat launch, ball fields, and disc golf. This increased connectivity allows park visitors to utilize all the park has to offer while promoting healthy transportation options.
