Arkansas Department of Transportation – De Roche Creek Lateral Slide

Improving safety and saving time, the Arkansas Department of Transportation completed a $13.15 million project to reconstruct main line interstate bridges using an innovative technique in Caddo Valley. The bridges were constructed using temporary supports off the shoulders of Interstate 30 while, simultaneously, crews built permanent foundation for the new bridges beneath the existing structures – all done in just 178 hours for the westbound bridge and 246 hours for the eastbound bridge. Altogether, the demolition of the existing bridges as well as construction and installation of the new bridges occurred in record time. This innovative approach allowed The Arkansas DOT to complete this project quickly and get travelers back on the road with minimal inconvenience.
