Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Interchange 33 on Interstate 95 in Stratford

With an interchange originally constructed in the 1950s, this stretch of road only provided one access point to the stores for those traveling southbound on I-95 – causing congestion to the neighboring town of Milford. Through this revamped interchange, this $30.5 million project boosted the local economy by providing expanded accessibility to the shopping center. The project not only made the area more accessible for community members to get around town, but it also made it easier to access the river front marinas and the local airport. The project coordinated traffic signals and added sidewalks to provide better pedestrian access to the local transit system and businesses, improving traffic flow, safety, and travel options for people in the community.
