Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development – Brightside Interchange Improvement

Roughly 15,000 vehicles travel the Brightside Bridge along Louisiana Route 30 in East Baton Rouge Parish, which also serves as a critical connector to Louisiana State University, as students used it to walk and bike to class. The Louisiana Department of Transportation increased safety and reduced congestion for travelers using all modes of transportation with the improvements to the Brightside Bridge. Prior to those improvements, backups routinely occurred along Route 30 due to a lack of left turn lanes. The Louisiana DOTD created new left turn and through lanes that improve traffic flow. The updates also provide additional access for pedestrians and bicyclists, via the addition of new sidewalks and ramps. With the community experiencing rapid growth, these improvements at the Brightside Interchange not only help meet the needs of its residents and students, but also keep them safe and moving.
