Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development – I-10 Widening

Interstate 10 in East Baton Rouge and Ascencion Parishes is vital connector for freight and travelers alike. I-10 sees as many as 95,000 travelers a day; a number expected to rise in the next 10 years. To accommodate that increase, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development made improvements that included increasing the number of lanes along I-10 from four to six, converting two bridges to a large overpass to help accommodate for additional traffic, and raising a bridge to comply with updated infrastructure standards. The improvements to I-10 help save travelers time and reduce traffic congestion in this growing area. The Louisiana DOTD also kept the public informed throughout the project by providing updates on the project website, public meetings, and via video. Those improvements help to meet the demands of this growing community for the next decade and beyond.
