The Maryland Transportation Authority, a division of the Maryland Department of Transportation, kicked off the massive I-95 Express Toll Lanes Northbound Extension project by replacing Bradshaw Road over I-95. This replacement is the first step in increasing safety and convenience for drivers. MDTA reconstructed the overpass to allow for future “follow-on” structures of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes Northbound Extension. The semi-integral abutments and corrosion resistant reinforcing were a first for MDTA and will save money in maintenance costs over the life of the bridge. The agency also completed the $7 million project ahead of schedule despite deploying a detour for motorists during construction.
