Michigan Department of Transportation—Adaptive Signal Control Technologies in Traverse City

Michigan DOT improved reliability and reduced congestion in the community of Traverse City, an especially popular destination in the summer, through the use of adaptive signal control technology at 21 signals along the state network. This technology allowed Michigan to optimize traffic flow and reduce peak travel times. Michigan DOT also improved pedestrian signal timing, leading to safer crossings for all with this $6.5 million project.
