Michigan Department of Transportation’s $24 million project built the state’s first diverging diamond interchange to improve traffic safety and mobility in Auburn Hills. Designed to be the primary gateway into the city, planners say the new interchange at I-75 and University Drive now handles 22,500 vehicles daily and serves traffic to the area’s five colleges and universities and 40,000 students. The interchange is also used by workers at several technology parks that are crucial to the state’s economic growth and competitive advantage.
