Minnesota Department of Transportation — Glenwood Complete Streets Project

Sitting near Lake Minnewaska, the city of Glenwood is a popular destination for visitors all across the state. However, the lake’s proximity to Highway 28 and others roadways in Glenwood sometimes result in flooding, resulting in detours several times a year. The Minnesota Department of Transportation saw the opportunity to provide some much-needed updates for the city. The $10.5 million Glenwood Complete Streets project realigned the highway – helping ease traffic confusion for travelers – constructed Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks, and built new bike paths that connect to the west side of the city. The improvements not only prioritized safety, but put the need of the community first, giving them greater options and access to get where they need to go.
