Missouri Department of Transportation—U.S. Route 160 Widening—Willard to Springfield

Missouri DOT created a smoother, easier, and safer trip for travelers with its U.S. Route 160 Widening project. U.S. Route 160 between Springfield and Willard is the main commuter artery for those travelling between both communities. As Willard continued to grow, traffic also increased. Widening the corridor was the focus of many requests from residents, city officials and local transportation stakeholders. Willard city leaders wanted to increase economic development in their community and improve safety along the corridor. This $18.6 million project addressed both concerns. The project widened Route 160 to increase traffic capacity and included roundabouts, J-turns and pedestrian underpasses to improve safety.
