In December 2019, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) became the first department in the country to provide hands-free, real-time state-wide traffic and traveler information via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant devices. This allows travelers access to the same traffic information without having to pick up the phone. NJDOT also has plans to provide the service to iOS and Apple users via Siri this year. This innovative approach allows drivers to get the information they need without taking their eyes off the road – increasing safety and convenience to make the most informed travel decisions.
