The City of Bowling Green is a thriving community located along the I-75 corridor in Northwest Ohio and one experiencing growth. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) was grappling with the need to create a new interchange to make the area, which was near an industrial park, safer, more efficient, and pedestrian friendly. To accomplish this, ODOT built a double roundabout interchange, which eliminated traditional turn lanes. The project also included a 10-foot multi-use path to accommodate pedestrians and give them safe access to the area. The innovative design lessens conflict points and lowers the speed of drivers (increasing safety for all) and better manages traffic by relieving the congestion for drivers that had plagued them for some time.
