Ohio Department of Transportation– Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway

The $646 million Southern Veterans Memorial Highway project sought to improve travel and regional mobility, allowing motorists to avoid traffic signals and intersections on the existing 26-mile corridor of US 52 and US 23 in South-Central section of the state. By using innovative designs and techniques, the new highway replaces the former Portsmouth bypass and provides traffic control to those traveling through to Columbus, saving up to 20 minutes on their commute per trip. This innovative approach also helps saves travelers up to 70 miles of travel time as opposed to the original bypass – providing a better overall travel experience while saving time.
