AZ: Valley Freeway System Project

The 137-mile Valley Freeway System Project managed by AZDOT and the Maricopa Association of Governments represents the largest urbanized freeway program in the country. In July 2008, this project was completed with the opening of the final segment of the Red Mountain Freeway (Loop 202) in Mesa. It incorporates many innovative environmental improvements, including sound-reducing walls, rubberized asphalt, and attractive landscaped beams.
