LA: LA Swift New Orleans Project

In an effort to address the transportation problems of citizens displaced by Hurricane Katrina, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, together with a number of other federal, state and local agencies and officials developed the new LA Swift intercity bus service between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. As of April 2009, the LA Swift intercity bus service, which began operations on October 31, 2005, has provided more than 592,000 passenger trips for displaced citizens.
