Stack III Jackson Project Jackson, MS |
|

“The Stack” in Jackson, Mississippi—the multilevel urban interchange of Interstate 20, Interstate 55, and U.S. Highway 49—was a severe bottleneck dreaded by commuters and confusing to through-travelers. Developed by the Mississippi Department of Transportation, Stack III encompassed construction of six bridges and 15 miles of roadway. The project has dramatically reduced congestion, improved travel, reduced the number of crashes, and cut commute times in half. Through traffic—including tractor-trailers on this important cross-country route— is also experiencing a more predictable and less confusing journey.
